Nairobi city has been growing—evolving from what I once perceived and experienced as a city reluctant to change, to one eager to innovate, incorporate and advance in any sector. During these exciting periods of growth, there has been a surge in creativity, as artists take their place, define their space, and construct the creative industry of the eclectic city.
Nairobi, a fast-paced multicultural city at the heart of East Africa, is embracing its heritage while also welcoming a future shaped by diverse cultural intersections and innovation. At the beginning of this project, I initially perceived the contemporary art scene as small and limited, but my perception quickly shifted once I delved deeper into the city’s creative landscape. What seemed small at first became an expansive, lively, and colourful world, teeming with activity and expression beyond what I could have ever envisioned.
